I’ve taken a pretty lengthy break from my CBE and Doula studies. Mainly because I was feeling burn-out after the miscarriage and the emotional difficulties that go along with something like that. Now, I’m at the point where I ask myself should I reread all I’ve read or start from where I left off. I did complete 5 of the required 8 book reviews and read two of the four manuals (didn’t do the assignments though).
Here is what I need to do to get certified:
-
Reread – The Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth & write report (I read this when I was pregnant!)
-
Reread – Birthing from Within and write report (same for this one….Oh, I loved it sooo much!!)
-
Read – The Courage to Heal & write report (wow that book is huge!)
-
Write my communication assignment & submit final. (Two papers must be submitted)
-
Read physiology manual, write the exams (8 in total), and understand the stuff.
-
Read adult teaching manual & prepare lesson plans.
-
Attend CBE course & write reviews
-
Attend two births & write reviews (I have one birth in August, but I’d like to have these two well before that).
Although I already studied the Doula Skills manual I still need to set up my website, papers, letter heads, get registered, etc. I’m really debating doing this much though because I do not know how much work I will be doing after I start university and so forth. I could to teach a class a month and attend a birth while studying to keep some revenue coming in and my skills fresh.
My Goals for this week are to write the two book reviews, and submit by first draft of the communication assignment, and start reading the education manual. So basically that’s about 3 hours a day, most days this week, inshAllah.
